Candy Evans has lived in North Dallas ever since she moved to Texas, and called District 11 home for more than 17 years. An award-winning journalist and small business owner, she successfully built a network of real estate blogs read by thousands daily. She is well-known for “telling it like it is” when it comes to city, tax or real estate issues, and her vision for being the first to embrace digitalized journalism for the real estate industry in North Texas. Not only is she dedicated to growing economic development in Dallas, she has contributed to it with CandysDirt.com.
Candy is also dedicated to her beloved city, and has held numerous memberships and civic leadership board positions over the years. She was President of the Dallas USA Film Festival in 2015 and remains on the board. She is a member of the Dallas County Medical Society Alliance (DCMSA), and in 2007 chaired a home tour on its behalf, netting more than $115,000, one of the most successful in DCMSA history. She has been involved with the Dallas Arboretum, the Yellow Rose Gala, Paws Cause and Presby Partners. She also worked as a tireless volunteer at her children’s schools, Hockaday and St. Marks. In 2012, she and her husband, Walter F. Evans II, M.D., co-chaired the Texas Medical Association annual gala in Dallas, “Going for the Gold”. Both are very active in the Columbia University and Dartmouth Clubs of Dallas, their alma maters. They also started one of the first neighborhood police patrols in Preston Hollow, and are leaders in the Hillcrest Estates/Northaven Crime Watch Patrol.
Candy and Walter have been married for 37 years, and are long-time members of Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church. They are the parents of two grown children, Cassie & Tres, three precious grandchildren (Palmer, Hattie and Walter IV), Bree Evans, a Golden Doodle, and Josie, a yellow-naped Amazon parrot, who even had a starring role in the “Real Housewives of Dallas”.
